Jacob’s Bones promotes a vision of Israel that is welcoming to all of the world’s Jews regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, or religious stream.
Since welcome is inseparable from respect and dignity we also promote a Judaism that emphasizes inner transformation, balancing of competing moral goals and compassion towards others. We believe this emphasis is consistent with the deepest historic faith and traditions of the Jewish people, and not merely some humanistic invention that stands in opposition to tradition.
And finally, since ideals have little meaning unless they are lived in the real world, this blog promotes and celebrates the progress of activists and organizations trying to build financial, political, and educational structures to support a compassionate, just, and Jewishly diverse Israel.
